William R. Black, 79

William Rolland Black of Williamsburg, Virginia, a former Westport resident, died June 22. He was 79.

Son of the late Harry and Jean Black, he graduated high school in Westport, class of 1957. He then went on to pursue his studies at Bridgeport Engineering Institute.

Alongside his academic pursuits, he served the U.S. Army and Naval Reserves. During his time of duty he was stationed in Italy.

After his military career, he became a traffic engineer in Norwalk. Not only was he a man of honor and duty, but a family man as well. He loved his family beyond description.

He belonged to many organizations, including several professional engineering organizations: Transportation and Engineers, the Urban Traffic Engineer Council, and Masonic Lodge 108 of Norwalk,

He was predeceased by his first wife, Gail, in 1991. He is survived by his wife Lynne Liscek Black, children Michael Black of New Hampshire, Brian Joseph Liscek, and Bonnie Christine Liscek Gravatt (Dan) and a granddaughter, Beressa Ann Black of New Hampshire.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 15 at 11:30 a.m. at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, 331 W Duke of Gloucester St., Williamsburg, VA 23185. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
