Maggie, a beagle mix from Westport, is one of approximately 70 puppies selected to be in the Puppy Bowl airing on Animal Planet Sunday at 3 p.m., according to Dorrie Harris, head of Westport-based nonprofit animal welfare organization TAILS.
“We rescued her in late August,” said Harris. “She was in line to be killed along with the rest of her litter. We are very excited to have one of our puppies pulled straight from death row end up as an ambassador for rescues on national TV. It is so wonderful.”
TAILS, which is dedicated to saving animals through spay/neuter programs, will host a fundraiser Sunday 3 to 5 p.m. to view the program at Burger Bar & Bistro, 60 North Main St., South Norwalk.
Maggie, who has since been adopted by a Fairfield family, will be on hand for the festivities, Harris said.
“We encourage everyone to vote for Maggie to win prizes at by hashtagging: #PuppyBowl #TeamFluff #Maggie,” she said.
