Westport Fire Department Marks End of Daylight Savings with Battery Exchange

If you are reading this Sunday morning and did not set your clocks back an hour before you went to bed, you’re up an hour early.

Daylight savings ended at 2 a.m. today (spring ahead, fall back, etc) and to mark the occasion, the Westport Fire Department, the Westport Rotary Club, and the Westport Firefighters Golf Tournament have launched a free battery program.

Consistent with the theme “change your clock, change your batteries,” the groups are offering up to three nine-volt batteries free per household. Residents are asked to bring their old batteries for exchange to fire headquarters, 515 Post Road East.

If residents need assistance, they can call 342-5010 to arrange for someone to come to their home, at no charge.
