Way Cleared for Sasco Creek Makeover Image
Meeting in a special session today, the Westport Board of Selectmen approved a resolution to clear the way for state financing of the $22 million makeover of the Westport Housing Authority’s Sasco Creek Village at 1655 Post Road East. Demolition of 33 mobile homes on the site will begin in mid-June, said Carol Martin, WHA executive director. They will be replaced with 54 new units. The existing 39 townhouse-style residences that were built in 2003 in the rear of Sasco Creek will remain. There will also be a new community building. In the 1950s, the mobile home park was privately owned and was later acquired by the WHA in 1981, Martin said completion of the redevelopment is projected for November 2015.
