Malachi Johnson, 18, and Marcus Singleton, 20, were arrested in Norwalk Superior Court Wednesday where they were being held on other charges, police said.

According to Lt. David Farrell, officers had responded to the residence on the morning of Feb. 24 on the report of a Honda CRV being stolen overnight. The keys had been left in the ignition, and the car was unlocked, he said.

“Waterbury had a vehicle stolen out of their city which was left in Westport, not far from where the Honda was stolen,” Farrell said.

Working with the Waterbury Police, Westport detectives were able to interview the suspects and complete arrest warrants based on their confessions.

Each was charged with first-degree larceny and faced a $50,000 bond, which both were unable to post. They were subsequently turned over to the court marshal, Farrell said.
