  1. The likelihood of accidents will no doubt rise due to the increased traffic on Whitney St. Already cars regularly race by at well-above posted speed limits. Since the Sugar Maple outlet onto Whitney is effectively a blind turn, the town should consider means to slow vehicles down. Another speed hump strategically placed between the two existing ones will increase safety for drivers and residents alike.

  2. I think the 2 speed humps already there are more than sufficient. I drive down Whitney daily and don’t see any speeding, especially when compared to the nearby streets without speed humps.

  3. I agree with Jeff. Adding more speed bumps just makes people furious. They’re annoying, and if there are too many, people will take advantage of the fact that if you go 45+ mph over them, you hardly feel them.

  4. In Westport, a sugar maple would probably gobble up $25,000 worth of land. Take out one here, one there, and before you know it, you have room for another house.
