“With five days to go until the elections we already received more absentee ballots than the total for either of the last two gubernatorial elections — and this election does not have an incumbent running,” she said.

Strauss said the number of absentee ballots received is 1,119 out of 1,896 issued.

In 2014, there were 798 total absentee ballots received, in 2010 (a similar election with no incumbent running for governor) a total of 1,125 absentee ballots were received.

Strauss said, as of today, there are 18,615 registered voters in Westport compared to 16,302 in 2014 and 17,728 in 2010.
