Pedestrian Struck, Killed on Bulkley Ave. North

UPDATE A male pedestrian was struck and killed today on Bulkley Avenue North and North Sasco Commons, according to police. He was identified as Peer Greenberg, 25, of Westport.

Police closed a portion of Bulkley Avenue North between Fairport Road and Brook Lane due to the accident.

Police said the driver of vehicle which struck the pedestrian remained on the scene.

“The pedestrian suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Norwalk Hospital,” said Lt. Anthony Prezioso, public information officer.

“Members of the Westport Police Department’s detective bureau and accident investigation team are on scene conducting an investigation into the incident.”

He said to accommodate their investigation, Bulkley Avenue North is currently closed to all traffic between Fairport Road and Brook Lane. 

“North Sasco Common will be completely inaccessible to all vehicles until the investigation is complete and the roadway is fully re-opened to all traffic.  This closure will be in place for the next several hours, however traffic officers are on scene to assist motorists seeking alternate routes around the incident.”

Prezioso said the driver of the vehicle had been traveling northbound on Bulkley Avenue North at the time of the collision

Anyone who may have witnessed a pedestrian walking on Bulkley Avenue North within the immediate time frame of the accident from approximately 11:40 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. are asked to contact the Westport Police Department’s detective bureau at (203) 341-6080 or the Westport Police Department at (203) 341-6000, he said.
