  1. I’m not sure if this person was in a crosswalk or not but it is always amazing to me the people who do not yield for pedestrians.

About ten years ago I had left Derosa’s Restaurant after having lunch with a Westport Detective and tried to cross over to the parking lot under I-95.  The Westport officer had to hold his badge out in order to get people to stop so we could cross in a crosswalk.

  2. I routinely almost get run over when I cross route 1 in the zebra walk in front of the post office on my way to work, in spite of the sign in the middle of the road instructing cars to stop when pedestrians are in the crosswalk…I am lucky when only three or four cars fly by me before one stops and I am able to cross.

  3. This accident happened almost directly in front of the Getty Station (and across from my office). There was still the outer shell for a rear view mirror and a shoe still on the ground as the Westport PD surrounded the site with their cars. There is not a cross walk there. The accident site is in between the entrance for the Mobil station/Dattco bus to the east and the light at Imperial/Myrtle Ave., and the Post Road. The logically would be for the pedestrian to cross at the Playhouse Square light. Lighting wise, it was twilight out.
