Comings & Goings: Pearl Restaurant Closing

Pearl Restaurant at Longshore to close Nov. 28, Westport, CT, by Dave Matlow
The Pearl Restaurant at Longshore will close on Nov. 28 according to managers Marc and Lois Backon. They wrote, “We are so very grateful for being able to bring Pearl into the lives of so many people and appreciate the dedicated support of the staff and of the community for the last four years.” Pearl, which launched in Feb. 2016, will remain open Thanksgiving Day for dining-in or take-out, according the announcement. Last month, WestportNow reported the management change for Inn at Longshore. which includes the space occupied by Pearl (see WestportNow, Oct. 23, 2020). Voilà! Work on the Lights Complete After 5 Hours of Effort

Work on the lights for the Cribari Memorial Bridge finished around 3 a.m. today. Volunteers removed all the old lights and replaced each strand with new lights donated by the Westport based charity Al’s Angels. AJ Penna & Sons Construction helped. Scarice: Presumptive Case of COVID-19 at Greens Farms Elementary

Superintendent of Schools Thomas Scarice today issued the following update to school families:

Dear Westport Families and Staff,

In our efforts to remain transparent with reports of positive Covid-19 cases associated with our schools, we will continue to provide health & safety updates as information is confirmed. As of the time I am writing to you this evening we are monitoring one presumptive case of COVID-19 at Greens Farms Elementary School.

Those impacted have been notified by school and District officials. As a reminder, families are asked to report positive of COVID-19 cases of students using our reporting voicemail or email regardless of whether the students are in remote or hybrid models of instruction. Please follow this link for more information on reporting.

As we head into the weekend, I ask everyone to read the comprehensive Thanksgiving Holiday Travel guidance put out by the Health Office staff from each school earlier today. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated team of nurses and health assistants who are so committed to the health and safety needs of our students, families, and staff. Have a safe weekend.
