Comings & Goings: Chez 180 Closes

Chez 180, an eatery at 180 Post Road East specializing in bakery products including made-on-the-premises pastries, breads and artisanal desserts as well as an all-day menu for breakfast, lunch and evening, has closed permanently, not having reopened from its closure during the early stages of the COVID-19 restaurant guidelines. Comings & Goings: Organic Krush to Post Road East

Organic Krush lifestyle eatery, will open in November at 374 Post Road East in the Compo Acres shopping center. Inspired by founders Fran Paniccia and Michelle Walrath, who describe the enterprise as a local one-stop-shop offering healthy lunch, organic coffee and a family dinner. The space seats 75 indoors with a patio for additional outdoor dining, The couple opened their first location in Woodbury, New York and now have eight storefronts. BOE Delays Update

The Westport Board of Education said today it has asked Superintendent Thomas Scarice to delay any update on schools reopening until Tuesday.

“While we are sensitive to the fact that many in our school community eagerly await the superintendent’s decision on the next phase of reopening our schools, the board has asked Mr. Scarice to briefly delay that decision until after a special meeting of the board of education tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.,” said an email to parents.

“This meeting will give both the board and the public an opportunity to hear our superintendent’s proposed plan, and for our superintendent to receive further feedback.

“Thank you for your patience as we seek to set the best path forward for our school community.”

Gallery: Wreckers Defeat Wilton

The pandemic forced a new format to Staples varsity football: only seven players per team, only passing, no running game, and a single one-second touch as opposed to tackling to end the play. Only parents are allowed to attend, so the audience is sparse. In game two of five in the abbreviated season, Wreckers were down 10-5 in the first quarter but rallied to defeat Wilton with a final score of 45-30. Senior wide receiver Cam Manna caught three of five touchdown passes from junior quarterback Ryan Thompson for 18 points. Kicker Max Szostak, a senior, added 10 points with his five successful point-after attempts. Staples is 2-0, with three games remaining, all at home. The Wreckers face Ridgefield Friday, Oct. 16. Ivo Milan Klima, 93

Ivo Milan Klima M.D., a resident of Westport and previously of Armonk, NY, died Sept. 26 at home. He was 93.

Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Dr.Klima was educated at Charles University in Prague. He and his family immigrated to the US during the communist era.

Dr. Klima practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northern Westchester Hospital. He was beloved and respected by his patients and colleagues. Dr. Klima loved classical music, art, books and travel. He was loved by many.

Dr. Klima was predeceased by his wife Anne L. Klima. He is survived by their daughter Alexandra Dalury, son in law David Dalury M.D., of Baltimore, MD, grandson Maximillian Dalury (Courtney and great-grandson Aiden) of Dover, MA, granddaughter Brooke Anderson (Timothy) of New York, NY, his long time companion Zdenka Fuller of Westport and many dear friends.
