Born in Bridgeport on Nov. 11, 1959, he was the son of the late François DuPont and Marylou (Giard) Dupont.

He graduated from Staples High School and attended the Berklee College of Music.

For the last 38 years, he has been proud to carry on his father’s legacy as the owner of François du Pont Jewelers.

Noel was a people person. He drove to work every morning, accompanied by his faithful dog, Ollie, looking forward to a day spent meeting new people, talking to old friends and clients, and helping all of them in their search for just the right piece of jewelry.

A gifted drummer, he loved music. He was passionate about the music of his idol, Frank Zappa. It was an enthusiasm he enjoyed sharing with others, and one that brought him so much joy.

He was a free spirit with a unique sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by friends, family, and customers whom he always kept smiling and laughing.

He leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Julia (Onatskaya) Dupont and his two sons Maxwell Francis Dupont and Lucas Ryan Dupont.

A devoted husband and father, for Noel nothing was more important than the happiness of Julia and the boys. He loved spending time with them outdoors in nature — skiing, swimming, hiking in Maine, or just playing together with the family Yorkie-Poo, Ollie.

A celebration of Noel’s life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Tavern on Main, 150 Main St., Westport.
