A Newtown man wanted by police in his hometown for larceny was arrested by Westport officers Monday after he was observed riding as a passenger in a car, police said today.

Upon being taken into arrest, officers discovered that Christopher Evans, 31, had 10 small folds of heroin in his wallet, said Lt. David Farrell.

Police charged Evans with possession of narcotics, and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Thursday, Oct. 16.

After being processed, Evans was handed over to the Newtown Police, Farrell said.
