On June 25, the Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) unanimously approved a text amendment and site plan for the project with the provision that 20% of the units be affordable.
Feinleib said today that those units would be off-site for special needs individuals.
The move to condominiums is not the first transformation for the 55,000-square-foot structure. In the 1930s, it housed the Embalmer’s Supply, and in later years, Architectural Plastics and New England Engraving.
The late local sculptor Stanley Bleifeld also worked there. Among its current tenants scheduled to leave are University Archives and Homes with Hope.
According to Feinleib, the condos will start at $995,000 for the one-bedroom units. He did not offer any other prices.
Feinleib said condominium owners will have access to a pool, spa, on-site concierge, a gym and 10,000 feet of common space in the back of the building.
