Making Saugatuck Site Visit

WestportNow.com Image
The Westport Historic District Commission, with the assistance of Jenny Scofield, National Register Coordinator, State Historic Preservation Office, paid a site visit today to the area of the William F. Cribari Memorial Bridge in Saugatuck. The visit was to conduct a field investigation of the preliminary district boundary for the proposed National Register of Historic Places Nomination form for a historic district in the vicinity of Bridge Street. Town official submitted an application to the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CDOT) in January (see WestportNow Jan. 11, 2016) requesting the state’s Scenic Road Advisory Committee review the Westport scenic road application for a 1.2-mile portion of Route 136—from Compo Road South to Bridge Street and over the Bridge Street Bridge to Riverside Avenue.
