LWV Sets Candidate Debate Oct. 29

The League of Women Voters of Westport will hold a debate for candidates for the state senate and house at Westport Town Hall on Monday, Oct. 29 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The event is being co-sponsored by the Westport PTA Council. Carolyn Reimers, president of the LWV of Connecticut, will serve as moderator.

Participating candidates for the state senate will include Toni Boucher (R) and Will Haskell (D) for District 26, and Tony Hwang (R) and Michelle McCabe (D) for District 28.

State Representative candidates will be Greg Kraut (R) and Jonathan Steinberg (D) for District 136, and Stephanie Thomas (D) and Gail Lavielle (R) for District 143. Lisa Wexler, unopposed for Probate Judge, will make a brief statement.

Each of the candidates will be asked to answer questions collected from the audience and read by the moderator. This year, the League is also requesting community input for questions before the debate, and encourages Westport residents to email their questions to the League at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

The debate will be televised live on Optimum Public Access Channel 79 and Frontier Channel 90, and then be available on the town website.
