Linda Johnson, 76

Linda (Mitchell) Johnson of Mansfield, Mass., formerly of Westport and West Windsor, Vt. and Wellesley, Mass., died Nov. 15. She was 76. Image

Born in Wellesley on Aug. 8, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. Sr. and Elizabeth F. (Fisher) Mitchell.

She grew up in Wellesley and Sherborn, and was a 1958 graduate of the Beaver Country Day School. She furthered her education, receiving an associate degree from Briar Cliff University, where she majored in English.

Prior to retiring, she had worked as an office manager at Modem Media in Norwalk. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past one and a half years.

She was an accomplished equestrian, skier, and scuba diver, and enjoyed many years of boating in Darien. She also was a member and an active volunteer at the Green Mountain Horse Association, South Woodstock, Vt.

Linda treasured times spent with her family and socializing amongst friends. She traveled extensively throughout the world, and when younger had enjoyed painting pictures.

She is survived by her children, Bryan M. Johnson, and his wife Kristie, of Tucson, Ariz.; and Avery M. Collard, and her husband Jeffrey, of North Attleboro, Mass. She was the sister of the late Tom W. Mitchell and Frank Joseph Mitchell Jr., and also is survived by her grandchildren, Grace Collard, Caroline Collard, Sarah Johnson and Abby Melkers; as well as several nieces and nephews, and her former husband, Dana K. Johnson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service in celebration of her life Sunday, Dec. 11, at 12:30 p.m. at St Mary’s Episcopal Church, 43 Foreside Road, Falmouth, Maine.
