Jane J. Wotring, 68

Born in 1944 in Akron, Ohio, daughter of Leah Rivitz and Morris Jessop, she studied art before moving to New York in 1963. She was Madame Helena Rubinstein’s personal secretary and later the crafts designer at Good Housekeeping, until moving to Connecticut, where she had a successful career in real estate.

She was married to Richard P. Wotring, who died in 2009, for 41 years.

She is survived by her sister, Honey Lazar (David Lazar), nephews Matthew and Zachary Lazar (Ayirini Fonseca-Sabune), brother, Henry Goodman (Lois Goodman), her beloved Aunt Ruth Moss, nieces Mara and Dana Sidney (Raoul Bain), great nieces Livia and Phoebe, as well as many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, a legion of devoted friends, and her constant companion, Lulu.

She was predeceased by her older sister, Phyllis Sidney (Oct. 30, 2011), whom she adored and with whom she shared a life-long love of fashion, art, craft, and nature. 

Donations in Jane’s name can be made to the Phyllis Sidney Fund at Wave Hill, 675 West 252nd St., Bronx, NY 10471. Arrangements for a Connecticut memorial are being made.
