Historical Society Sets Walk in the Park for Sunday

The Westport Historical Society is hosting a “Tree Walk in Winslow Park” Sunday.

The event with former Westport tree warden Don Snook will include a tour of the park and discussion about the various trees there and what occurred beneath them in Westport’s past.

These events include firing of muskets in 1777 and the “salad days” of the 1850s in the park when it was the site of town-wide parties and 4th of July fireworks, according to organizers.

The Society offered registrants two options to participate. They can meet at 1 p.m. at the Historical Society on Avery Place for a “fitness walk” to the park or they can meet at the park at 2 p.m.

There is a $10 charge per person ($8 for Society members). For information or to register, contact Susan Gold at (203)222-1424 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)  Guests are advised to bring an umbrella if it rains.
