Helping St. Jude Hospital Image
Two fifth grade students at Green’s Farms Elementary School, Abby Straight (l), 10, and Karalyn Hood, 11, sold bracelets for $4 each at Compo Beach today on behalf of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Karalyn, who created the bracelets, said she was inspired to do the project by being in the school play, “Thanks and Giving.” It is based on the book by the same name by Marlo Thomas, the well known Westport resident who is an actor, producer, social activist and an active volunteer for the hospital. Karalyn , who calls he work “bracelets for the brave,” said, “If you can spend $5 on frozen yogurt then you can spend $4 to help cure cancer.”  (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for
