George M. Prackup, 79

George M. Prackup of Bridgeport, a former Westport resident, died May 30. He was 79.

Born Sept. 5, 1938 in Westport, he was one of eight children, the son of the late Michael and Aniella Prackup.

He attended Staples High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a radarman on the USS Randolph (CVS-15), an aircraft carrier stationed in the Mediterranean.

He was awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal and was named Honorman of his company.

He worked as a mason contractor and was responsible for building many structures and homes in the Fairfield County area, retiring after 45 years.

He was a Yankees, Patriots, and UCONN Huskies fan and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

While at Staples High School, he played baseball and football. He built his home in Weston and lived there for nearly 50 years with his family.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Rose and Barbara, and brothers, Frank and Michael. He is survived by his brother, Stanley Prackup and sisters, Virginia Fiordelisi and Alice Prackup.He is also survived by his four sons, Dr. George M. Prackup and his wife Rebecca; Jeff Prackup, his wife Ellen and their children Christopher, Julia and Nicole; Richard Prackup, his wife Leila and their children Richard, Emily and Andrew; and Mickey Ferrone and his children Massimo and Mia.

A memorial mass will be held. on Saturday, June 9 at 11 a.m.  at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 35 Norfield Road, Weston. Interment services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels of Bridgeport through Harding Funeral Home in Westport.
