Flash Flood Watch Extended

UPDATE The National Weather Service has extended a Flash Flood Watch for the Westport area until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Periods of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain will continue through Tuesday as several disturbances track along a frontal boundary near the local area, the NWS said.

Heavy rain with rainfall rates as high as 2 to 3 inches per hour could cause flash flooding, especially in urban and poor drainage areas and in locations that received heavy rain from thunderstorms on Sunday.

Repeated training of cells over the same areas could lead to localized rainfall amounts over 4 inches, the NWS said.
