Evelyn grew up in Westport, attended Westport schools and remained a resident until three years ago when she became a resident of Notre Dame Health and Rehabilitation Center in Norwalk.

The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Notre Dame for the care and compassion they bestowed on Evelyn.  Every member of the staff was wonderful, especially Jenelle and Geraldine.  These two women were angels indeed.

At Notre Dame Evelyn made many new friends.  She had quite an active social life there with games, recreation, and music which she took part in on a regular basis.

Evelyn was an avid Yankee fan. She could often be heard yelling at the players on the TV.  She played softball and basketball in her younger days.

She worked a number of jobs in her lifetime, the last of which was The Bigelow Tea Company.  She retired from there in 1996 after 15 years.  From that point on, her job was “Grandma.”

Evelyn will be sadly missed by her son Wayne Mills of Bridgeport; grandchildren Austin Mills of Branford and Maggie Mills of Manchester, New Hampshire, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Clifford and Catherine (Healy) Mills; two brothers Clifford and Irving; two sisters Harriet and Katherine.

The family intends to have a Mass of Christian Burial with Evelyn’s ashes at the Chapel at Notre Dame at a future date, TBD.
