Charlene M. Girden, 83

Charlene Margot Girden of Westport died Jan. 16 at home. She was 83.

She spent most of her adult life in Stamford, where she was a member of Rockrimmon Country Club for 45 years.

“Charbubble” was a social butterfly who loved her friends like they were her family. She served on PTA committees and volunteered as a den mother and baseball mom and enjoyed playing canasta, bridge and Mah Jongg.

She was an avid tennis player and golfer. She kept active with many charities and was a huge supporter of the arts, which included membership in The Actors Fund.

Earth Animal, the animal health care retail store at 606 Post Road East for the past 20 years, will relocate mid-year to 925 Post Road East, according to a sign in the store’s window. Earth Animal’s new space was formerly occupied by Starbucks, which relocated in November 2016 to 1000 Post Road East, the space formerly occupied by Arby’s.
