Coastal Flood Advisory Issued
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for Westport and area, which is in effect from noon to 3 p.m. Monday.
Burning Odor Forces Bus Evacuation
Westport firefighters today responded to a report of a burning odor on a bus traveling on I-95 from New York City to Providence, Rhode Island. The passengers were evacuated just below the Hillspoint Road overpass while firefighters determined there was no fire but a problem with the braking system. Playhouse Gallery Debuts
Westport artist Ann Chernow tells a packed audience tonight about her works displayed at the new Gallery at the Westport Country Playhouse. She and fellow Westport artist Miggs Burroughs joined to produce the exhibit, “Amazing Grace,” which focuses on real and invented people from life’s shadows. The inaugural exhibit was made possible through a partnership the Playhouse formed with the Westport Permanent Art Collection and the Artists Collective of Westport. Alums Victorious in Annual Rugby Match
More than 40 alumni and current Staples High school rugby players came together today for the annual alumni rugby match. The alumni squad easily defeated the Staples team. After the game finished all the participants stayed and played an extra 60 minutes of game time. The popularity of the rugby program has flourished under Head Coach David Lyme. Rugby is now the largest contact sport at Staples with approximately 100 players expected to play in the upcoming season. Pictured: current senior Henry Engles with the ball.
