With P&Z Vote, Tesla On Track for Westport

By James Lomuscio

UPDATE Tesla tonight moved closer to opening up a service center and perhaps eventually a dealership at 176 Post Road West, the site of the former the former Dragone Classic Car showroom.

Westport’s Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) by a 5-2 vote approved a text amendment that would facilitate a special permit-site plan application that would allow the Tesla facility. Chip Stephens and Al Gratrix dissented. State legislators have yet to allow Tesla to have dealerships in Connecticut.

Once the text amendment is legally effective, the P&Z will vote on the site plan, a vote which is expected at its December meeting.

In discussing the text amendment, Eric D. Bernheim, attorney for property owner applicant 176 Post Road West LLC, did not say Tesla by name, referring to it only as an electric vehicle (EV) automobile dealership, which does not include hybrids.

Staples Boys Soccer Ousted in State Tournament

A fast-paced, well-played state tournament soccer game tonight ended in defeat for the Staples boys.  Cheshire –- ranked No, 3 in the LL division –- ousted the Wreckers, at the Rams’ field. Cheshire drew first blood, but Nick DiMasi equalized two minutes later. The hosts got the go-ahead goal with 14 minutes remaining, off a rebound. They added an insurance goal six seconds from time, as the Westporters battled desperately with everyone on offense. Staples ends the season 12-4-4, earning praise from head coach Dan Woog as “a very special, truly passionate and tight-knit, loving group.” Pictured: Nick DiMasi (left) being congratulated after his tying goal by Wilson Daniels, Austin Sholes and Matthew Tanzer. Real Estate Report: Behind On/Off Market

By Judy Szablak

Special to WestportNow

If you have closely followed the real estate market in Westport, you’ll notice that some homes have been on and off the market for years before they sell.

That fact in itself does not signify a slow market. It is more indicative of setting an initial list price which is not in tune with current market trends coupled with comparable inventory.

Some homes seem to linger on the market longer than others, and it could be due to any one of a variety of factors, including having too high of an expectation of price, the marketing of the home, or the condition of the home, or a combination of these.

While it is true that the overall market is favoring buyers at the moment, there are some areas, and some price points that are experiencing a better than average turnaround for quicker sales.
