Unitarian Church Dedicates Rainbow Flag
Members of The Unitarian Church of Westport gathered today after the morning service to dedicate a rainbow flag outside the church. By a vote of the congregation in 1994, the church became an intentionally welcoming church for homosexuals and bisexuals. A Rainbow Task Force formed and in the years since what was once an LGB (Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual) movement expanded to include T, Q, and I (Transgender, Queer, and/or Questioning, and Intersex). Arnela Ten Meer, chairperson of the Rainbow Task Force said, “Hanging a rainbow flag at the entrance of our church is a visual sign of solidarity with the LGBTQQI community and other churches, congregations, and community organizations that create and support safe spaces by putting up their rainbow flags and signs. It clearly says: You are welcome.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Contributed photo

CBS ‘Sunday Morning’ Spotlights Westport Anti-Trump Bumper Stickers

The brief appearance was in a story by correspondent Martha Teichner on how campaign bumper stickers are part of a hallowed (if sometimes raucous) tradition. See video here.
