Westport Senior Center is Open
The Westport Center for Senior Activities will be open today and will operate on a regular 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. schedule, officials announced.
The Center usually closes when public schools are closed, which occurred today due to roads blocked by trees or power lines.
“However, we encourage you to be safe first and not to take any chances while traveling or coming to the Center,” an announcement said.
“We will allow you to make up any classes that you miss today due to the circumstances. Safety first!

All after school activities werw also canceled or rescheduled for a later date.
All offices were closed.

UPDATE Westport emergency workers responded to numerous reports of trees and wires down tonight as winds gusted to more than 35 mph. Pictured are wires down on Northfield Drive in the Coleytown area. Heavy Rains Cause Flooded Roadways
UPDATE Heavy rains fell across Westport today, causing minor flooding on roadways such as at Main Street and Canal Street (above). Local weather stations measured just over half an inch by shortly after 11 p.m. Eversource said 33 Westport customers were without power due to downed power lines.
