Worshippers Hold Hands at Crowded Compo

Congregants of Westport’s Saugatuck Congregational Church, Greens Farms Congregational Church, Wilton Congregational Church, Norfield Congregational Church and United Methodist Church hold hands today at a crowded Compo Beach. Every Sunday through August, church services are held at 8:30 a.m. Today’s service, which shared the beach with the Westport Weston Family YMCA 37th annual Point to Point swim, included the celebration of three baptisms. The first place overall finisher, Mark Loftus, and first place female finisher, Galen Rinaldi, in the 37th Annual Point-to-Point Swim at Compo Beach today.  Loftus, 55, a member of the Red Tide Swim Club of New York, completed the swim in an unofficial 15 minutes 46 seconds. Rinaldi, 46, a resident of Cobalt, Conn., did it in an unofficial 16 minutes 10 seconds. Both said they participated in the event in prior years, but today was the first win for each.
