NWS Update: Winter Storm Warning, 4-9 Inches

The National Weather Service, in an update to its Winter Storm Warning for Westport and area, said snow accumulation of 4 to 9 inches is expected.

The warning remains in effect from 7 p.m. today to 6 p.m. Monday.

It said heavy snow will fall late tonight into Monday morning, changing to a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, then changing back to snow in the afternoon.

In addition to the snow accumulation, there will an ice accumulation of around one-quarter to one-half inch of ice, the Weather Service said.

Super Bowl Sunday is one of the busiest day’s of the year at Art’s Deli, 13 Post Road West in Westport, according to Rich Falcone (l), owner. He and his son, Christopher, 25, show off a 4-foot grinder ready to be picked up by a customer. An application for a permit to demolish the house at Westport’s 122 Imperial Ave. is in process. Built in 1950, the 1-1/2 story cape has 1,892 square feet, is situated on a .33-acre property and changed ownership last month for $885,000.  Because the house was built more than 50 years ago, the application will be reviewed by the Westport Historic District Commission.
