Chamber to Host ‘Legislative Wrap Up’ Talk Friday

A legislative wrap up on the recently finished 2014 state General Assembly session will be the focus of the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce meeting scheduled in association with the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) for Friday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the Westport Library’s McManus Room.

State Sen. Toni Boucher, Rep. Gail Lavielle and Rep. Jonathan Steinberg are scheduled to participate, said Matthew Mandell, the chamber’s executive director.

“This is a great opportunity to hear directly from your state representatives,” he said. “It will be an informal discussion, so attendees will be able to participate.”

He noted that state legislators considered “many bills impacting business and company bottom lines in this year’s session in Hartford.”

WestportNow today launches a new feature, Today in WN History, a look back at some of the events WestportNow covered in past years. The caption on this picture from June 23, 2004: The Westport Board of Selectmen tonight voted 2-1 (Izzo opposed) to endorse Parks and Recreation Dept. regulations that delete a “sunset clause” from controversial rules governing dogs at Compo Beach. The issue is now likely to go before the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) which has inserted the clause two years in a row so it could review the regulations governing dogs off leash in the non-summer months.
