Spring? Sleet, Snow Hit Westport Area

UPDATE Moderate to heavy sleet and snow moved through the Westport area today and the National Weather service said up to an inch of accumulation was possible, mostly on grassy surfaces.

Westport police reported an accident on Newtown Turnpike, and state police reported several accidents on the Merritt Parkway.

State police asked for Department of Transportation sanders to be deployed because of slick roadways.

Coleytown Company’s ‘Shrek the Musical’ Opens Thursday

Coleytown Middle School’s Coleytown Company is gettting ready for its production of “Shrek the Musical,” which opens Thursday at 7 p.m. with additional performances Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. as well as a Saturday matinee at 1 p.m. “Shrek the Musical” is based on the 2001 DreamWorks film “Shrek” and William Steig’s 1990 book “Shrek!” The original Broadway production opened in December 2008 and ran for a year. Tickets are available online at http://www.showtix4u.com (search term “Westport”). All tickets are $12 plus a processing fee. In addition, tickets may be purchased at the door up to 45 minutes prior to curtain, subject to availability. Installation Complete for Arts Center’s ‘SOLOS 2014’

Installation of the Westport Arts Center’s “SOLOS 2014” member exhibit was completed today. Opening Friday with a 6-8 p.m. reception, it features 38 works by 12 artists, including three from Westport. A Top SpinOdyssey Fundraiser

UPDATE Audrey Hertzel of Westport was a top fundraiser at today’s 15th annual SpinOdyssey to benefit breast cancer held for the first time this year at the Fairway Market in Stamford. She was second in total raised to Westport’s Andrew Beal (of Team JoyRide), who raised $30,470.
