Mary St. Cyr

Mary St. Cyr, an employee of the Westport school system for more than 25 years, died June 16.

She had been diagnosed with cancer four years ago but managed comfortably until just recently when her health took a serious decline, her family said.

She began her professional career with the state Welfare Department, then the Bridgeport school system, and ultimately more than 25 years with the Westport schools, as a counselor, school psychologist and mid-level administrator.

She was also very active in professional organizations, first with the Connecticut Association of School Psychologists, where she served in a variety of offices, including president. She then was active in the formation of NASP, the National Association of School Psychologists and served as its first secretary.
