UPDATE The Fairfield Half Marathon returned to Westport roadways today after an absence of several years. The entrants, topped at 5,000, are seen on Greens Farms Road about to turn on to New Creek Road at the Green’s Farms Metro-North station. Men’s winner was Eric Chirchir of Kenya in 1:05:58. Packed Crowd Watches Levitt Gala Starring Foreigner
More than 1,750 people, according to Freda Welsh, executive director of the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts, packed the Staples High School field house tonight for the Levitt gala performance of Foreigner, one of the most popular rock acts in the world. With 10 million platinum albums and 16 top 30 hits, Foreigner is responsible for some of rock ‘n’ roll’s most enduring anthems including ‘‘Juke Box Hero,” ‘‘Feels Like the First Time,” “‘Urgent,” “‘Head Games,” “Say You Will,” “‘Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded” and the No. 1 hit, “I Want to Know What Love Is.” The benefit performance makes possible the more than 50 free nights of Levitt performances, which begin Tuesday on Jesup Green.
