The Westport Public Library today officially launched its Maker Space (upper right, with flag), an area set aside in the Great Hall for inventing, thinking, tinkering and “thinkering,” as library media guru Bill Derry called it. Created as a venue for innovation and production, the library said the space is the first of its kind at a library in Connecticut. “The concept originated from the realization that libraries, in this era of hands-on learning and interaction, should provide experiences that take people from imagining to actually producing,” the library said in its announcement.
