Everyone who came into contact with her felt her loving, vivacious and creative personality, her family said. They all loved her, and she loved everybody. She will be deeply missed.

First studying at the Belcher Studios, she was a prima ballerina and danced professionally from childhood. As Miss Plumas County in California, she competed in the Miss America contest.

After graduating Sacramento State College, she went on to teach grade school in Sacramento, Waco, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Durham, N.H.

Christmas Offering

The Saugatuck Congregational Church annual Christmas Day feast went ahead as scheduled today in Westport’s Christ & Holy Trinity Church Great Hall, the same location for the Thanksgiving Day feast which also was relocated because of the Nov. 20 fire that heavily damaged the host church. While today’s turnout was lower than Thanksgiving, many were grateful for the plentiful food and fixings donated by residents and area merchants. Among those attending was the Rev. Ted Hoskins, the popular clergyman who served as pastor of the church from 1967 to 1994 before moving to Maine. Larry Untermeyer for

Reminder: Liquor Stores Closed Mondays Dec. 26, Jan. 2

Connecticut’s Consumer Protection Commissioner William Rubenstein reminded residents today that liquor stores will be closed on the Mondays after Christmas and New Year’s Day this holiday season.

He said because both holidays fall on Sundays, no retail sales of liquor will be allowed on those two Sundays, as well as the following two Mondays.

There will also be no beer sales in food stores on those Mondays.

While there was an effort this year to repeal Connecticut’s ban on Sunday liquor sales, it failed in the General Assembly.
