The National Weather Service in Upton, N.Y. has issued a dense fog advisory for Westport and area which is in effect until 10 p.m. today.
It said dense fog will make visibility less than one-quarter mile and make driving potentially hazardous.
UPDATE A late model Cadillac Seville is hung up over a small stream after it crashed into a guard rail today at Westport’s Sherwood Island Connector and Post Road East. The driver, an 81-year-old Westport woman, declined transport to the hospital. Witnesses said she came off the Sherwood Island Connector in the wrong lane, narrowly missing an oncoming car. Police cited her for driving too fast for conditions, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, and failure to obey a traffic signal. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) WestportNow.com photo
Westport firefighters rescue an 81-year-old Westport woman today from her car after it crashed into a steel barrier over a small stream at Sherwood Island Connector and Post Road East. She suffered slight injuries but was trapped in the car before firefighters put down a ladder to get her out of the vehicle. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) WestportNow.com photo
