Staples Captures State Boys Volleyball Title

Westport’s Staples High School boys volleyball team today won its third consecutive state title over Southington with a 3-1 win at Cheshire High School for the Class L championship. The victory capped a 24-0 season for Staples, which has won 80 straight matches. For Coach Bruce Betts, it was the fourth straight Class L crown and eighth title in nine years. The Westport Arts Center tonight hosted an opening reception for its Solos Show, curated by Amy Mackie of the New Museum, one of the nation’s leading showcases for the art of our time and New York City’s only museum devoted exclusively to contemporary art.
