Love is in the Air at Westport Animal Control Image
A love connection was made this week at Westport Animal Control with the help of matchmaker Animal Control Officer Peter D’Amico (r).  Emmie, a puggle, found a loving home after being abandoned in Westport. Emmie was one of two adoptions of abandoned dogs this week. Westport Animal Control is a no kill shelter under the supervision of the Westport Police Department and is located on Elaine Road across from the boat ramp. If you would like additional information about Westport Animal Control or would like to inquire about other dogs available for adoption, call (203)341-5076. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Contributed photo

Duck Do Over Image
Because some ducks strayed at the start of today’s Great Duck Race individual edition (there was a corporate race, too) members of the Westport Sunrise Rotary Club had to gather the entrants and do it all over again. Winner of the $5,000 Visa gift card first prize was Mario Octavio with Nancy Diamond taking the $1,000 second prize and David Press the third $500 prize. All are Westporters.  (CLICK TO ENLARGE) photo

Grand Prix Winner Image
Astride his horse Candide, equestrian Peter Leon of Greenwich goes through his paces to win the Grand Prix today in the Fairfield Count Hunt Club June Benefit Horse Show. The first place win netted him $7,500 with the remainder of the $25,000 purse divided among the second, third and fourth place finishers. Leon, a seasoned rider, is a past winner of many equestrian events. In addition to the exciting Grand Prix competition, today featured the EQUUS Foundation benefit luncheon and a silent auction. Intermittent light rain did not deter an enthusiastic crowd from enjoying the annual event. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Larry Untermeyer for
