Library Conversation to Focus on Sports Ills

The next Community Conversation at the Westport Public Library will focus on sports corruption and debasement.

The event is slated for Sunday, July 9 at 2 p.m. at the library.

Westporter Frank Deford—senior writer at Sports Illustrated, commentator on NPR and a regular correspondent on the HBO show “Real Sports”—leads a panel that also includes Mike Greenberg, co-anchor for ESPN’s SportsCenter and co-host of ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike in the Morning” show and Chris McKendry, ESPN’s weekend morning SportsCenter anchor.

The discussion will be moderated by Chris Hodenfield, Westport Magazine editor.

Westport Farmers Market Opens Thursday

The market will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. 

Sponsored by the town’s Celebrate Westport Committee and Wholesome Wave, LLC, the initiative is a seasonal weekly market for the community to purchase homegrown produce and artisan foods directly from Connecticut farmers and artisans. 

The market will be open rain or shine Thursdays through Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
