The new playground at Westport’s Compo Beach had a “soft” opening tonight. Organizers had hoped to be finished in time for a dedication ceremony this afternoon, but they ran behind schedule and put off the official opening until next Saturday. Nevertheless, they roped off the unfinished areas tonight and let youngsters give the playground a test run for about an hour, much to their delight.
