Tracing Benjamin Franklin’s Route

The Westport and Fairfield Historical Societies today jointly sponsored a bus tour to mark this year’s 300th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Franklin. The tour of areas in Westport and Fairfield covered places Franklin visited as deputy postmaster general as he measured the distances between post offices in New England. Town Historian and Westport Historical Society Co-President Allen Raymond was guide for the tour, the first in the group’s planned “Destination Westport” monthly events. Staples Senior Wins Another Science Prize

Staples High School senior Jonathan Sellon explains to Dr. Anne Lintermans-Bertels, a board member of the Westport Science and Engineering Foundation, his entry at today’s 6th annual Southern Connecticut Invitational Science and Engineering Fair held at Staples sponsored by the foundation. Sellon, who has been named a finalist in the nationwide Intel science talent search competition, won first prize in the physical science category for his project focused on the auditiory process of the inner ear.
