Westport Arts Awards Draws Big Crowd

Today’s 10th annual Westport Arts Awards ceremony at Town Hall drew several hundred attendees. Artists, writers, and musicians honored included actor Christopher Plummer, comedienne Imogene Coca, writers Evan Hunter, Leonard Everett Fisher, and Hilary Frank, musicians John Ohanian and Charles Baker Carleton, composer John Corigliano, Jr. illustrator and cartoonist John Held, Jr., and artist and magazine publisher Ruth and John Stephan. First Selectwoman Diane Goss Farrell welcomes the gathering. photo

Westport Honors Arts Awards Recipients

Actor Christopher Plummer addresses today’s 10th annual Westport Arts Awards ceremony at Town Hall. A Weston resident, Plummer was honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Westport Arts Advisory Committee. After recounting how much he enjoyed being an area resident, Plummer said: “This is just like getting a medal for already living in paradise.” Committee co-chair David Rubinstein looks on. photo

Compo Debris Bagged for Analysis

Stacy Wong of Westport carefully bags debris she picked up this morning at Compo Beach. She was among volunteers participating in the18th annual International Coastal Cleanup created by The Ocean Conservancy and coordinated in Connecticut by Norwalk-based Save the Sound. All garbage picked up is tallied and sent to the Ocean Conservancy for analysis to help understand the sources of debris in an effort to stop it at the source. photo
