A Small Gesture That Made His Parents Proud

WestportNow.com Image
It was a small gesture captured by the team photographer but one that made his parents beam. At a recent Staples freshman squad football game against Stamford, one of the Wrecker captains, A.J. Konstanty, went over to a Stamford player who was injured during the game and shook his hand. “We’re very proud of this spontaneous act of sportsmanship & kindness,” said parents Jared and Kelly Konstanty. “In a world full of negative headlines & bad news, my wife Kelly and I thought this was a cool moment of positivity.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Photo by Shelley Burger Sports

Halloween Deer

WestportNow.com Image
Westporter Theresa Levy was on her way to work today when she spotted what at first glance appeared to be a deer carrying a pumpkin in its mouth. As she got closer to the animal in the Grace Salmon Park area, she realized it was a young deer with a plastic pumpkin stuck on its head. “Being an animal lover, I stopped and tried to approach the deer to see if it would let me get close enough to remove the pumpkin,” she said. “Unfortunately, but not surprising, the deer just looked at me and then trotted away.”  (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Theresa M. Small Outside Fire Disrupts Greens Farms Voting

WestportNow.com Image
A small outside fire started by a tossed cigarette butt briefly disrupted voting today at Westport’s Greens Farms Elementary School. Fire Inspector Nate Gibbons said the butt tossed in front of the school touched off a fire in some mulch which spread to plastic fencing surrounding an exterior utility hookup. The burning plastic sent plumes of heavy black smoke into the air before being extinguished. Voters and election workers were evacuated from the rear school gym, far from the fire scene and were allowed back inside a short time later. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) WestportNow.com photo
