Back to Maintenance Work

WestportNow.com Image
After a day marked by high winds, heavy rain and fallen trees and branches on to power lines, these utility workers today returned to previously scheduled maintenance work. On Greens Farms Road, near Clapboard Hill, utility contractors install a bracing pole to support an adjoining utility pole that reinforces support for the power cables, according to a worker. During the process an alternating one-lane traffic pattern was in effect. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com

DUI Arrest

Westport officers arrested a Norwalk woman for driving under the influence (DUI), resulting in an accident, police said today.

According to Lt. David Farrell, Amparo Montoya, 68, turned herself in Thursday on an active warrant based on an accident that occurred Dec. 21 at the intersection of Newtown Turnpike and Wilton Road.

Farrell said that responding officers found Montoya to be disoriented, had trouble balancing herself “and officers smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath.”

He said officers completed a search warrant for Montoya’s blood to determine the alcohol level, and the state toxicology laboratory determined Montoya’s blood alcohol level was .16, double the legal limit.
