Cyclist Down

WestportNow.com Image
Fellow cyclists tend to a Fairfield man who was injured today when be lost control of his bicycle and fell on Westport’s Sylvan Road North near Pequot Trail. According to a member of the Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club with whom he was riding, the injured cyclist complained of shoulder pain and the right side of his face was visibly bloodied. He did not lose consciousness and responded coherently when asked questions by EMS personnel who tended to him at the scene and transferred him to Norwalk Hospital, a witness said. The rider wore a helmet, which may have reduced his injuries. A fellow rider said this is one of the club’s weekly rides, a 24-mile course, and she estimated they had covered about 14 miles. “Of all places for this awful accident to happen, this is a relatively easy part of our course,” said another rider. “Many of the terrains are a lot rougher.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
