2009 Grand List at $10.9 Billion, Up 1.35 Percent

Westport’s 2009 Grand List—the sum of the assessed value of all taxable property, including real estate, motor vehicles, and personal property as of Oct. 1, 2009—was $10.9 billion, a 1.35 percent increase over the previous year, Tax Assessor Paul Friia said today.

Friia said in a news release that he signed the list—which was based on Oct. 1, 2005 values—as required by state statute on Sunday for transmittal to the state.

“The net Grand List of $10,910,243,025 represents an increase of approximately 1.35 percent over the 2008 Grand List based on 2005 values,” said Friia.

The increases in the values—despite the weakened economy—came in real estate and personal property, he said.
