Marian M. Arciola, 76

Marian M. Arciola of Spring Hill, Florida, a former Westport resident, died July 17 at her daughter’s home in Southport after battling cancer. She was 76.

She was the fifth child of the late Alfonso and Rose (DeRosa) Mola. She was born Feb. 5, 1941 in Norwalk, graduating from Norwalk High School in 1959.

She spent most of her years raising her family in Westport before moving to Florida and spending her summers in Connecticut.

She was a member of the Red Hats Society, a former member of the Westport Garden Club, Catholic Daughters, and Westport PAL.

She was proud of her family and was happiest being a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. When she wasn’t gardening, traveling, volunteering, or doting on her grandchildren, she would be lovingly cooking or baking for her family.

Her strong faith and compassion was complimented by her beautiful spirit which touched many people who came into her life. The best garden she ever planted was her devotion to her family and extended family.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Carmen S. Arciola, her three children, Carmen, Jr. (Pamella), Pamela Greenhut (Stephen) and Jeffrey (Kathi), her seven grandchildren, Matthew, Danielle, Taylor, Brenna, Kyle, Jason and Caroline. She is also survived by a sister Patricia (Carl) Sckolnik, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-laws, John Mola (Shirley), Vincent Mola (Lillian), her sister and brother-in-law, Lucille Downing (Hartford) and her sister, Lois Accardi (Alexander).

The family will receive friends on Friday July 21 from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East.
