Alan D. Spargo Jr., 61

Alan David Spargo Jr. of Westport died Aug. 1 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was 61.

He was born June 8, 1956 son of Alan D. Spargo Sr and Catherine (Gilmartin) (Spargo) Christensen.

He spent his early years in West Haven, and Madison and lived for many years in Westport.

He worked as a machinist, boat mechanic, and carpenter. He enjoyed camping, boating, tai chi, reading and spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by both parents who died in June 2017. He is survived by his four sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Spargo of Hudson, Massachusetts, Jeanne (Spargo) Chatot (Paul) of Post Mills, Vermont, Kathryn Spargo of Ivoryton, Connecticut, and Cara Spargo of Wallingford, as well as his cousins.

There will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks a donation be made to Homes With Hope Gillespie Center 45 Jesup Road, Westport CT 06880 or Bridgeport Hospital Foundation, 267 Grant St., Bridgeport, CT 06610.
