Winter Weather Advisory: 1 to 3 Inches Expected

UPDATE The National Weather Service has issued an updated Winter Weather Advisory for Westport and area which continues to 1 a.m. Thursday.

In an early afternoon advisory, it called for snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches but said portions of southern Fairfield County north of the Merritt Parkway may see higher snow and sleet accumulations of 4 to 6 inches.

The Weather Service said a mixture of rain, snow, and sleet this afternoon should change to primarily snow this evening. The snow should then taper off toward midnight.

Inland portions of Connecticut were under a Winter Storm Warning with predicted accumulations of 4 to 8 inches.
